Hands-on History: Botanical Bundle Dyeing
Penn Museum
Saturday, Oct. 28, 10:00 am - 2:30 pm ET
FREE TO REGISTERED GUESTS
RegisterBundle dyeing is a natural dye approach that lets artists recreate the look of botanical prints, motifs, and "organic tie-dye" by using dried and fresh flowers, bark, extracts, and kitchen waste. In this workshop, taught by Melanie Hasan of Modest Transitions, teens will discover the art of botany by selecting botanical materials to craft a bucket hat and a pair of socks. This workshop focuses on teaching methods to create mirrored, confetti, and tie-dye prints; plant materials for successful printing and color; hot bath extraction; color modification; and washing/caring for naturally dyed textiles.
Lunch provided. Two-way SEPTA ride cards available for transportation.
